Welcome to the Gallery section of The Blackbird.  The Gallery contains two pages worth of albums sorted by type or location, all full of pictures for you to enjoy.  New pictures always appear in the very first album on the first page, however.  This magical album is called "Unsorted", and here's why - it's full of pictures that you, the users of the site, have uploaded!  They aren't sorted, they aren't captioned by me, they haven't been touched save by their uploaders (that would be you people).

"But Danae," you say to me in numerous emails, "how do I manage this wonderous miracle of science?"  I shall tell you how this can be achieved, my children.  Gather around.

Any and all photos you have to share, be they photos of the band, photos of you for the fan section, band related artwork, old DI photos - they ALL go in the Unsorted folder.  This is handy, since it's the only folder into which you CAN upload photos.  Click on the highlight photo for that album, or the album title to progress. 

You'll see a whole page of photos uploaded already, unless I've already moved them to their permanent homes.  To upload your own photos, look in the upper right corner of the page.  You'll see a drop menu called "album actions", and from there you drop to "add photos".  A window will pop up with the upload dialogues.  You can upload up to ten images at a time.  The Gallery will automagically resize your photos, so do not worry about large images.  You can also rotate images in gallery, or I can do that at a later date if you'd rather not. 

There is also an option when you upload to attach a caption to the image.  I'll be glad to caption your images with brief descriptions if you like, or if not you can caption your own images.  What I DO need you to put in the caption section are two things - LOCATION of the shot, and PHOTOGRAPHER CREDIT.  I try to credit all the photographers in the image information.  If you forget to do that, PLEASE email me with that information so I can credit you and sort the pictures into the proper folders.

You can also upload movies and zip files full of images and/or movies using the same method.  Simple, no?  Also, NO, you do not need to have an account in gallery to do any of those things.  In fact, you CAN'T have an account in Gallery.  So don't worry about it.  You also can't move the photos yourself, so don't worry about that either.  I have a system for when and where the photos go.

If you have any questions, please email me at danae @ stny.rr.com and put "The Blackbird" or "The Gallery" in the title so I don't think you're spam and delete you for great justice.  Remember, having the pictures up and available for others to enjoy is the goal, and I'm willing and able to caption and rotate your uploaded images.  Enjoy the Gallery, and upload lots of lovely images for us!
